On Information Flow
Information Flow is the exchange of information bits from one entity to another. That's a broad definition going down to the genes and maybe far beyond.
But for here I want to talk only about these bits we commonly name "intellectual property". I set this in quotes because I do think that it's wrong to think one human can own thoughts and ideas. I like to show some possible reasons for that and why information flow is a good thing. And besides: I think that property is theft, but that's a topic for another text, someday.
Informations are the sources, streets and storages of our knowledge. Each new thought, each new technology, each new tradition is based on former knowledge of other humans. We're truly standing on the shoulders of an giant. The giant formed of human knowledge.
When informations flow they nurture the development of new thoughts which transform into knowledge and later into new informations. Our scientific theories, mindsets and everything that's based on these both evolves in this process, our whole self evolves in this process.
The interesting part is that the growth of equivalent new information is independent from the human brains processing it, given alike informations to base on.
Of cause, some develop new ideas a lot faster than others, but ideas just blossom when it's the right time for them. You could recognize these phenemona easily in various events in the history of science.
When we speaking of information flow we don't mean only the flow. In fact, at most times the pure flow of information is for us as natural as breathing. The flow stucks and eventually get stopped, when mechanisms try to control the usage of information.
The main reason for the existence of these regulations is not to protect fame or publicity of the author. They try to control how the information is used. So, if you want to build or perform something which is already protected from some sort of regulation you first got to make an arrangement with the one who claimed it first. This gets especially weird when it comes to things which are natural evolved, like e.g. genes, or unspecific definitions, like e.g. rounded corners of tablet pcs.
When we take in account that each of this concepts and ideas which are protected by structures like patents or trademarks based on other concepts and ideas, which could be widely used without any regulation, it doesn't make any sense. Nowadays, the natural evolution of human thoughts through copy, combination and change of other thoughts is declared illegal and those who can't stop what's natural for us got seeked by the authorities.
In other words: at a point of human development, not even two hundred years ago, our societies established a mechanism which is trying to slow down our development of thoughts and ideas. Sure, these regulations where only against companies the time they where established. But in nowadays web, where everybody could easily become a broadcaster and producer, they work against people too.
I think it's our duty to (re-)establish the free flow of information. I'm not willing to endager the evolution of our culture for some companies trying to maximise there incomes.
Let information freedom ring!

To you, my love, dear Internet
Inspired by Stephan Urbach and despite the fact, that tante wrote nearly everything about it, I came to the conclusion that I had to add my own loveletter to the Internet.
Oh hai!
Internet, I know it's silly to address you directly, but for the sake of this letter I will do so nonetheless.
You are beautiful. I was so stunned of you're abilities as I met you the first time. Did you remember?
We were both teenagers, eager to explore the world and learn about new things, to evolve new perspectives.
I hooked in with one of those old modems and met other people. Real people I could talk to without fear.
Real people which respected me. Not like these small-minded villagers, that terrorized me for my whole childhood.
You are beautiful. We never split up since these days. You showed me the lands where I could flight to.
And as I realized that I couldn't escape from myself, you helped me to find support, reflection and safety.
You showed me the data to educate myself, to develop myself. I couldn't live this life without you, literaly!
You let me find hope as I was ready for it. You let me stay in touch with the people I love. I'm grateful for that.
You are beautiful. You've showed me the world in ways I never imagined before. You bring me news,
long before they came on dead wood or in empty tubes. Sure, you tell me about lots of brutal, cruel,
alarming and frustrating things. But that's like it ist and I don't want to live without these information.
And naturally I've found many stubborn, dumb and ugly-minded people in your depths. But I've learned
to handle them, which is also a good thing.
You are beautiful! Each day you show me new art, new thoughts, new tools for my pleasure. Each day
I'm in touch with hundreds of people, riding on their commulated information wave, forming my own
stream of thoughts, news and art. I'm putting it back in the web to feed the waves of other people.
I need you just like the air to breathe. Sure, I can stop to ride the wave, for a few days, maybe weeks.
But I never want to loose you. We are there all this time. You are because of us and we are because of you.
Thank you Internet, I love you.

hello world
So, here we go.
The aim of this blog is to collect my thoughts to a very important complex of themes. I choose to start a new platform for it because I want to write here only in English. As I want to reach as much people as possible and to get focused on the topics and not on my person. I must apologize in advance though my English most certainly will be wrong or feel itchy from time to time, as I'm not a natural speaker, and nearly always forgot the grammar when I tried to learn it.
So, some words to the topic. I want to write about the situation of the human species at the moment. And naturally how I think we could change the things that brought us to this point. This means sociological, ecological and political themes. It's my conviction that we've going to feel the results of the actions we've done and do though we've throned us as rulers of everything. The aim of this project is to collect useful thoughts that could help and tell new and different stories for the change our culture, reports about what's going bad and wake-up calls to spread hope, vision and joy.
It's the mind set of our culture which drives us to this suicidal course of domination of all we can get. And this ideas can, will and must be changed to get some a peaceful and sustainable way of life.
As a citizen of one of these states who stand on top of the pyramid of exploitation it's possible that I don't grab all aspects of our actual situation. I would love if you could help me to fill the holes in my world-view. To contribute, which I would appreciate, please send me a mail to contribute@devel0p.net and describe in a few words what you would like to publish. I would also love to re-publish the posts from your blog.
